Sculptra® in New Jersey

Sculptra focuses on rejuvenating the face by targeting folds, wrinkles, and sagging skin. What sets Sculptra apart from other injectable dermal volumizers is its utilization of biocompatible poly-L-lactic acid, which gradually replaces lost collagen over several months, resulting in youthful and wrinkle-free skin that can last two years or more.

The longevity of Sculptra’s effects surpasses that of other facial injectables, providing remarkable and subtle results that appear entirely natural, keeping the secret of your noninvasive cosmetic enhancements safe.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra may help you f you have lines and wrinkles in the face but aren’t ready for cosmetic surgery yet

Sculptra is a dermal filler that was approved by FDA in 2014 to treat folds and wrinkles in the face. The major ingredient in this filler is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which stimulates collagen production in your skin. It can last for up to two years, so it’s one of the longest-lasting dermal fillers on the market.

After your healthcare provider injects Sculptra, you will notice results within a few hours, as wrinkles and lines in the face fade. Most patients report noticing a softer, younger appearance.

It can take up to three or four months to see the maximum results, and many patients need up to three injections spaced one month apart.

Sculptra also can be used for these off-label uses:

  • Buttock augmentation without surgery
  • Cellulite correction
  • Reduction of elbow, knee, and chest wrinkles
  • Create the appearance of muscle mass in the buttocks, thighs, biceps, pectorals, and triceps

Sculptra Procedure

Sculptra New JerseySculptra is an out-patient, non-surgical procedure, so you can probably have your consultation and treatment on the same day.

First, the doctor will note where the filler needs to be injected in your face or other body part. Then, they’ll clean the area and apply a topical anesthetic. The filler is usually injected in several areas over 15 or 20 minutes.

Most patients can go back to their regular routine right after the procedure. Some patients have the injections at lunch and go right back to work.

It’s best to wait a day or two before returning to your regular workouts, so the filler doesn’t migrate to another part of the face.

Sculptra Benefits

Sculptra is one of the most popular dermal fillers for many reasons. Some benefits of Sculptra include:

Facial Rejuvenation

Sculptra injections encourage the skin to increase collagen production. So it works to repair and rebuild the skin, not just fill in lines and wrinkles with a synthetic subance.

Once the dermal filler has done its job, your face will have more fullness and volume, which reduces the appearance of folds, lines, and wrinkles.

Bony parts of the face, such as the cheeks, which can become more prominent as the skin thins, are made softer. The filler also may increase volume in parts of the face that can hollow with time, such as the temples.

Natural-Looking Results

Most patients get three or four injections of Sculptra over a month or so. The injections are done in several directions under the skin so that a mesh-like pattern is created. So once it’s in place, Sculptra can provide a foundation for the production of collagen.

Note that it can take several months for collagen to be produced by the skin, so it may be three or four months before you see maximum results.

But because the effects take hold gradually, the results tend to look more natural. People won’t wonder if you had work done. This can be a problem if you have a facelift because the change is so dramatic and sudden.

Not everyone wants people to know they have a cosmetic procedure, so Sculptra can be a great choice for them.

Long-Lasting

Sculptra rebuilds the foundation of the face by producing more collagen, so it usually lasts longer than other fillers. Many patients enjoy results for at least two years.

Even if you decide you don’t want more injections, you still will have extra collagen produced in the face which will provide a more youthful appearance.

Many patients are amazed how one Sculptra treatment can make such a big difference in how they look for years.

Low Maintenance

After you have a series of Sculptra injections over four to six weeks, you won’t need to do anything else for about two years.

Other injectables, such as Botox, require the patient to return for touch-ups every three or four months.

Because you only need more every year or two, it’s easier to live with Sculptra and more cost-effective.

No Allergic Reactions

Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid, which is a synthetic substance. The substance undergoes no allergy testing because there’s no risk of allergic reactions.

Once it has done its job, it is naturally absorbed by the body with no ill effects.

Ideal Candidates For Sculptra

Ideal candidates for Sculptra have lines and wrinkles in the face they want to address without surgery.

They also don’t smoke or drink to excess and have realistic expectations about what dermal fillers can and cannot do.

Also, good candidates for Sculptra are starting to lose facial volume that gives them a hollowed appearance. This procedure plumps the face and fills in the cheeks and other aras.

People who benefit the most from these injections are those whose facial volume is declining and need a major refresh.

Your skin should be in good condition that doesn’t have infection or inflammation, and you don’t mind waiting a few months to see the final results.

Also, a good candidate for this treatment is able to keep up with self-massages for a few days after the injections. Doing a gentle facial massage daily for the first week ensures the filler will be distributed properly.

It’s also important to want this procedure for yourself and not because someone else wants you to have it.

Preparation For Sculptra Treatment

This is a non-invasive procedure, so there aren’t any special preparations needed for Sculptra. However, to reduce the chances of bleeding, you may need to stop taking medications that can increase bleeding, such as ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin.

You should not smoke for a few weeks before and after the procedure because this can affect the body’s healing ability.

Sculptra Risks And Complications

Sculptra is safe and effective for most patients, but there is a risk of side effects that usually last for only a few days:

  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Pain and tenderness in the treatment area
  • Bleeding

A rare complication with Scupltra is the development of bumps or nodules in the treatment area. This problem occurs in less than 1% of patients and tends to occur if too much filler was injected.

The risk of this complication is reduced if you select a board-certified surgeon to do the work, who ensures the product is put in the correct location.

Sculptra Recovery

Most patients can go back to their regular activities after Sculptra injections. Some people may have minor swelling and bruising that fade after two or three days. You can do the following to speed up the recovery process:

  • Apply ice or cold packs to the treated after for 10 or 15 minutes at a time in the first day.
  • After the injections, massage the treated area for five minutes at a time for up to five days.
  • Stay out of the sun until redness and swelling have dissipated.

You may see some results of the injections right after the procedure, but it may take two or three weeks to see the final results.

Complementary Procedures

If you decide to have Sculptra injections, you may consider other facial procedures to make an even bigger transformation to your appearance. Having more than one procedure at a time allows you to get everything done at once, which saves time and money.

Popular procedures that patients sometimes choose with Sculptra injections are:

Talk to your plastic surgeon about which combination of procedures will give you the best results on your face and neck.

Sculptra Injections FAQ

Common questions about Sculptra include:

What Shouldn’t I Do After Sculptra Injections?

You shouldn’t do these things for two days after the injections: drink alcohol, work out vigorously, or be exposed to the sun or excessive heat or cold. All of these activities may increase swelling.

You also shouldn’t take aspirin or any other medication that can thin the blood for two days after treatment. If you take blood thinners, this may increase the risk of bleeding after cosmetic procedures.

How Often Should I Have Sculptra Injections?

Your results may last for up to two years. But it’s a good idea having an annual check-up to see if you need any touch-ups.

This product usually lasts longer than other fillers and injectables. For example, Botox only lasts three or four months before you need more.

Is Sculptra Better Than Dermal Fillers?

Scultpra is a type of dermal filler, but it’s more than that. It not only fills in lines, wrinkles and hollowness; it encourages your body to produce more collagen, which is what makes a young face look full and glowing.

After the filler is in your body for a few months, your body will produce more collagen, which will help you look younger for longer, even after the Sculptra leaves the body.

Will Sculptra Work On Jowls?

Sculptra can help to lift the jowls. Your doctor may inject the product in the cheeks and temples first and do the jowls in a separate session.

If you have excessive jowls, there can reach a point where having dermal fillers won’t do the job. Some patients with heavy jowls may be better suited to a neck lift.

Will Sculptra Look Natural?

Yes. One of the biggest advantages of this filler is it looks natural. Adding sculptra to your face induces the skin to produce collagen, which happens over several months.

As the body makes more collagen, your skin will become fuller and softer over time so no one ever suspects you had any work done.

How Many Vials Of Sculptra Are Needed Below The Eyes?

Many patients need two to four vials of filler to fill in hollows under the eyes. But if you have excessive tissue loss in this area, you may need six to 10 vials of Sculptra.

Can I Have Sculptra Under The Eyes?

Yes, Sculptra is effective to plump hollow parts of the face, including the cheeks and under the eyes. It also makes the skin thicker, so it looks younger.

Sculptra works to help the body produce collagen, so it helps your skin to improve itself.

Can I Combine Sculptra With Other Treatments?

Yes, having Sculptra injections is a type of liquid facelift, and you can combine it with other treatments to make your face look younger than ever. Some patients like to combine this filler with Kybella, which can reduce the appearance of fat under the skin.

Others choose Botox and Dysport to target fine lines and wrinkles, while the Sculptra fills in lost volume.

Will I Have Any Downtime?

Another benefit of dermal filler injections is it’s an in-and-out procedure so you can go back to your regular activities the same day.

However, you should take a few days off from exercise so the filler has time to bond with your tissues. Working out too soon increases the blood circulation and that can cause the dermal filler to migrate.

Is Sculptra Worth It?

If you are losing facial volume and showing signs of facial lines and wrinkles, but don’t want surgery yet, Scupltra could be the answer. This popular dermal filler provides gradual, natural-looking facial rejuvenation, so talk to your doctor about Sculptra today.

Can Sculptra Migrate?

It may migrate a bit, which is why you shouldn’t engage in vigorous activities for a few days after your injections.

Also, don’t do any massages that your doctor doesn’t recommend.
